4 Off The Beaten Path Activities to Try in CharlestonWhether you’re a Charleston local, or tourist visiting just for the weekend, there are tons of tourist attractions to take advantage of in the Holy City pretty much any day of the week. While carriage rides and ghost tours through historic downtown are sure to be a lot of fun, there are many activities to do in the Charleston area that are off the beaten path of most tourist attractions. Here are 4 activities to do in Charleston with family or friends if you’re looking to get away from highly populated tourist areas.
1. Go on a Ziplining Adventure
If you’re an adrenaline junkie, you should consider going on a ziplining adventure. No other experience will give you the chance to soar through Charleston’s forest canopies suspended more than 600 feet in the air.
2. Try Paddle Boarding in Shem Creek
Shem Creek is a dockside hideaway in the heart of Mt. Pleasant with several seafood
restaurants surrounded by a waterway perfect for paddleboarding! There’s a small kiosk near the dock where you can rent paddle boarding gear.
3. Visit a local waterfront park
One of the best features of the city of Charleston are the abundance of waterfront parks
in pretty much every part of the city. There’s a North Charleston Waterfront Park, a Mt. Pleasant Waterfront Park, and even a Waterfront Park in West Ashley below the Cosgrove bridge. Pack a cooler with drinks and a nice lunch, then head to a local park to enjoy lowcountry waterfront views.
4. Attend a Pinot’s Palette Class
Our studio, located at the North Rivers Shopping Center beside Target in North Charleston will be opening up this summer! We’re excited to welcome both tourists, and local Charlestonians alike to attend our fun and entertaining paint and sip classes.
