Me? Blog?!Me? Blog?!
Whaaat?! Me? Blog? No way!
When I first signed my franchise agreement with Pinot's Palette, no one said anything about blogging. Good thing, because it might have made me really re-think what I was about to do. Who wants to hear what I think? Or read really poor writing? To be fair, I am a self-confessed member of the Grammar Police. I can't help it, 9th grade english kind of stuck with me. It is my first language after all. But I'm not a great writer. I'm slightly amusing to speak with but somehow it doesn't quite translate smoothly to writing.
Oh well, too late now lol!
So, what to write about? I figured I could just Google "blog ideas". And viola! I did get some great ideas. The first is to tell you about me.
One night my husband and I came home late and he did something pretty silly and embarrassing. I, of course, threatened to take a picture and put it on Facebook. His response? A slightly out-of-focus "Go ahead, this is me." We may have been out with friends that night (wink, wink, drink, drink). Anyway, I'm taking that attitude with my blog. I'm just going to be me, and talk about things I talk about.
This is me:
I’m a wife of 26 years, a Mom to a 24 year old son, a 25 year old daughter (yeah, what was I thinking?!), and a 29 year old son-in-law. I'm a Nana to a hilarious 2 year old (who will probably star here a lot in the future, you're welcome).
My husband and I own a Pharmacy, which my father-in-law opened in 1973. There were about 10 houses in Lake St. Louis then. My husband gets his sense of "Just go for it!" from my father-in-law. When my in-laws retired in 2000, we bought the pharmacy, then expanded it to include a home medical equipment store when we moved it in 2006. We may have been a little over-ambitious, and ended up with a little too much space. What to do to fill it and pay some rent? As I'm the more conservative, planning, researching half of our partnership, I shot down tons of his ideas. Indoor human Fuse ball?! Really babe?
Then, one day, PInot's Palette came onto my radar. Looks fun! No health insurance involved- yay! People will WANT to come here. They won't be sick, or crabby. I like it! My husband: Go for it! So we did. It's been a long road to fruition, but we have finally started construction in The Meadows shopping center in Lake St. Louis. Yes, that's right, not in the space I already own and need to fill lol! But that's a story for another blog post.
