Dressing for Paint and Sip
If you’re anything like us, you change clothes a lot before heading out the door for a night out. Plus when you are getting ready for a paint and sip night and the thought that paint spills are a possibility is in the back of your mind, getting ready becomes even more difficult.More often than not you are going out for food before or after your event or you are meeting some close friends and you don’t want to show up in your cleaning day sweats. However you don’t want to risk dripping some paint on your favourite outfit. The dilemma is real.
As painters we understand the struggle, but let us remind you that most of the time our guests leave with their clothing the same colour as when they came in. However it is never a problem to play it a little safe, just in case.
SIMPLE IS KEY - In the interest of risk management, leave the $200 designer jeans at home in favor of an inexpensive pair. Stick with something cute but not fussy, like skinny jeans, patent flats, and a pretty top. Make sure everything you are wearing is easy and inexpensive to replace. Avoid something that has sentimental value or doesn’t do well in the washing machine. Maybe avoid white as well, just in case.
OFFICIAL PAINTING OUTFIT - Lots of our guests have a designated “painting outfit” and honestly it is what most artists do as well. Many bring an extra sweater to put on for the painting portion to protect what they are wearing underneath. When you have an official paint and sip outfit, it’s not stressful when paint or wine splatters happen, and it doesn’t doom the outfit to the trash.
INVESTIGATE YOUR CLOSET - You know those clothes that you can’t get rid of but never actually wear? Here’s the perfect opportunity to get some use out of them. Dig into the darkest reaches of your closet to find something you like enough to have kept all this time, but aren’t so in love with you’d be upset if it got ruined.
CAMOUFLAGE WITH COLOUR - Wear something multi-coloured and with a bold pattern. You know, something that paint drops will blend right in with. Statement floral prints, colourful critter prints, intergalactic leggings, rainbow stripes or check prints, ‘80s-inspired gear (thank you, tie dye!), and other styles that have a lot going on.
APRONS GOT YOUR BACK - In addition to our aprons, you’ll also have the option to put purses or other wardrobe accessories in a safe place, far from errant paint. Whatever you choose to wear to paint and sip, it’s sure to be a photo-worthy night.
