Brush Up! Tips For First-Time Painters
If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to unleash your inner artist, this is it! Our classes are beginner-friendly, social, and designed to help you discover how fun painting can be — even if you’ve never painted before.
You’re in for a treat! Whether you’ve never picked up a paintbrush before or it’s been years since your last art class, you’ll be surprised at how fun, relaxing, and rewarding the experience can be.
** Here are some helpful tips to make your first painting night a masterpiece in more ways than one:
1. Come With an Open Mind
The most important thing to bring (besides yourself) is an open mind! You’re not here to create a perfect replica, you’re here to enjoy the process. Every artist’s painting looks different, and that’s the beauty of it.
2. Dress for the Occasion
We provide aprons, but it’s best to wear something comfortable that you don’t mind getting a little paint on. Acrylic paint can be tricky to wash out once it dries, consider this your creative “battle gear.”
3. Trust the Process
Our talented local artists will guide you step by step through the painting, and you’ll be amazed at how easily your canvas starts coming to life. Don’t stress over every brushstroke... just follow along, sip, and smile.
4. Take Advantage of the Sip in “Paint and Sip”
A glass of wine, a cocktail, or your favorite beverage can help you relax and get into the flow. It’s part of what makes Pinot’s Palette South Hill such a fun night out; Creativity pairs perfectly with a good drink and good company!
5. Make It Social
Invite friends, coworkers, or family to join you! Painting together is a great way to laugh, connect, and make memories. It’s also an excellent idea for a date night, birthday celebration, or team-building event.
6. Don’t Compare Your Art
Every person interprets the painting differently... that’s what makes each one unique. Instead of comparing your work to your neighbor’s, focus on what you love about your own piece.
7. Take Your Time (and Photos!)
The night goes by fast, so take a few photos during your session to capture your creative journey. You’ll love looking back on your progress and the fun moments shared with your painting partners.
8. Display Your Artwork Proudly
You made it! So be proud of your creation! Hang it up at home, give it as a gift, or start your own gallery wall. Every painting tells a story, and this one is a reminder of a fun, creative night out.
