This History of the Chunky Blanket
This History of the Chunky BlanketI am sure you have all heard of the new craze in knitting that hit the US, insert intro music here…The Chunky Blanket.
We traced back the Chunky Blanket lineage back to the Danish Cultural tradition of Hygge which according to Wikipedia “is the Norwegian word for a mood of coziness and comfortable conviviality with feelings of wellness and contentment”.
Although Hygge can meet a lot of different things to different people, the word is often associated with the cozy warm blanket that we make at Pinot’s Palette in South Barrington. Almost every class sells out 2 years after its original debut.
Originally made with Merino Wool, you can make your very own Chunky Blanket with chunky chenille yarn in a wide variety of colors. Be careful, this is addicting, and you will want to make them for all your friends and family. Which we are sure they will all appreciate during these frigged days of winter.
During this event you will get step by step instructions to create your own “Hygge” Chunky Knit Blanket and believe us, there is no knitting experience required. This is something that everyone can do!
Pinot’s Palette- South Barrington offers both in-studio and virtual Chunky Blanket classes but be sure to book quickly as seats/supplies are always limited.
