Little Brushes: Summer Camp!

Week 2- Beginning Drawing - Value & Tone

Have a teen ages 13-18 who’s taken a serious interest in creating? In this virtual, crash course to visual image making, we will continue our studies this week with an introduction to drawing. We will gain essential knowledge on how light and the absence of light play an important role in the understanding of how we perceive what we see. We will have a brief look at how value has been used in other 2D works of art. We will explore various value structures, learn to work with tonal grounds, and exploit creative impulse. A committed attitude and willingness to experiment will be paramount in this course.

LIVE INTERACTIVE VIRTUAL CLASS. THIS OPTION INCLUDES ALL OF YOUR ART SUPPLIES FOR PICK UP AT THE STUDIO. This class will not be held in the studio. This is an educational in depth drawing class. Each week of curriculum will build on each other but each week is also very friendly to a new student just signing up. Don't worry if you miss a week or skip weeks!

MON - Positive/Negative Space
TUES - 2 Value Statement
WED - Full Value Statement (Subtractive)
THUR - Full Value Statement (Tone)
FRI - Full Value Statement (Additive)

You will receive a supply kit that includes everything you will need for the entire week, such as specific worksheets, a folder, multimedia paper, safety scissors, pencils, colored pencils, glue, a pencil sharpener, a ruler, a shoe box for a project we will be doing, and an emailed link to join the live interactive class from home! Supplies will change each week.

Please note that this specific week's focus is on drawing, not painting. There will be more crash courses to come, each week being different, some of which will entail painting, as well as other mediums and subjects.

Pick up your kits for camp the Saturday before camp 12-4 PM. Last day to register is the Saturday 13th at 4:30 PM.

If you experience technical issues during the live class or are unable to attend a day within the week, a recording of the class will be available for 4 days following the event.
