Drinking to DIY DecorWhat's in Your Recycle Bin?
If your recycle bin is chock-full of empty wine and liquor bottles like ours is, you have some fabulous little sip and paint gems waiting for creativity. The wine was fabulous. The liquor made great libations. Now how about those empty bottles? You've sipped, now paint, glue and get creative! There are so many fun DIY bottle projects to brighten up your home decor. Here are three ideas to get us started.
1. Paint and sip... and swirl like a taco? Yes, we said TACO!
Have leftover paint cans from updating the rooms in your house? Pull out those old paint cans and swirl your way to a new trio of bottles to add a touch of new decor to a cozy corner, shelf or mantle. This one is easy peasy. Just make small puddles of paint on a paper plate. Pick up your empty wine bottle and place it in the center of your paper plate. Close the paper plate around the wine bottle like a taco and swirl! Voila, you've created a painted swirl wine bottle, customized to the colors of your home.
2. Fireflies in a Bottle - add a little ambiance!
If you thought swirling your wine bottles like a taco was easy, wait till you try this. Soak and remove the labels from your bottles and drop in a strand of battery operated lights. Instant fireflies in a bottle. Feed the end of the light string into the bottle and attach the small battery pack with a little hot glue to the back side of the bottle neck. Turn those 'fireflies' on and off as you wish. Provides great ambient light in a cozy corner, on a buffet table or as a centerpiece.

3. Message on a Bottle
queue Sting... :)
Choose your medium. Want to glue yarn or twine around your bottle to give it a little rustic feel? Want to paint your bottle one color or do a taco swirl? No matter how you paint the base of your bottle, you can turn it into a message bottle, bottle to use on a buffet table to describe the food being served, etc. Just paint a rectangle of chalk board paint on the center of your bottle. Voila! You can customize your message time and time again... multipurpose message bottles!
Be bold. Be creative. Recycle your empty bottles into fun new home decor!
