Katy ISD afterschool Program
Katy ISD After School Program – January 2026
$135 for the Month of January meeting 1x week at the designated Katy ISD Elementary School.
The After School Art Program for Katy ISD students introduces students to the creative process through a structured, month-by month progression. Each month focuses on a new artistic theme and includes guided instruction in sketching, drawing, blending, and painting techniques. Students practice skills throughout the month, building toward a completed 8x10 painted canvas during the final class of each month. This progressive structure supports fundamental artistic development while providing students with a finished artwork they can proudly take home!
Program Goals
• Teach foundational art skills including sketching, shading, blending, and texturing.
• Encourage creativity, imagination, and artistic expression.
• Build student confidence through successful completion of a monthly final project.
• Strengthen fine motor skills and visual planning abilities.
• Provide a fun, enriching after-school experience for elementary students.
Monthly Instructional Flow
Each month follows a consistent instructional progression designed to gradually develop technique and artisticskill:
• Week 1 – Theme Introduction and Basic Sketching: Students learn shapes, lines, and structure.
• Week 2 – Developing Form, Composition, and Color Mixing: Students practice painting smaller projects focused on technique.
• Week 3 – Guided Painting Practice: Students explore blending, layering, and texture.
• Week 4 – Final Project: Students complete a full 8x10 canvas representing the month’s theme.
Each monthly session is $150 for full 4 week months.
$135 for any partial month due to holidays or studio closures.
We are also offering a 10% sibling discount for each additional child. Must call to enroll siblings for discount.
Each sign up will come with 1 Sketch book per year. You may purchase additional sketch books in studio for $10 each.
JANUARY - ANIMALS - Learn to sketch animals using simple shapes.Practice fur texture and color blending. Final Canvas: Safari Animal Portrait (lion, elephant, or giraffe).

What are your studio hours?
We are available by phone 9am to 10pm every day (except major holidays). The Studio is usually open from 6-11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Public Classes are usually on Thursday through Saturday Nights (Sometime Saturday and Sunday afternoons). Check our Event Calendar for more information. What is the max class size?
Class size is limited to 20 painters (normal is 44). for evening and afternoon classes. Little Brushes Kid Day Camp is limited to 16 full day campers (1 to 8, artist to child ratio).

Are masks required during painting events?
Masks are no longer required so we do not require them. Feel free to wear one if you like.

How do I sign up for a class?
Signing up is easy. Click the "Event Calendar" link on the top of the page to view our calendar of paintings. Select which painting you would like to paint and click "Add Painting to Cart." Follow the on-screen directions to complete the order. Contact us if you have trouble completing your order and we will walk you through the process.

What do I bring to class?
We provide the canvas, easel, brushes, paints, and apron for the class. All you need to bring are any drinks and/or appetizers you might want to enjoy! We also provide the wine glasses, corkscrews, ice & ice buckets, paper plates, napkins, plasticware, and complimentary water.
