Dubbed ‘Soul Kitten’ by Billboard Magazine, the sultry vocals of soulful singer Mauree’ will take you on a journey that will leave you yearning for more.

Currently working her 3rd CD, Mauree’ has engaged the most talented musicians and songwriters in the Midwest for what promises to be a plethora of Soul, Funk, R&B and Jazz hits. Meanwhile, the songstress performs at a host of local venues, private events, and provides vocal coaching for budding young artists.

As a little girl, Mauree’ fell in love with country legends such as Tammy Wynette, Lynn Anderson and Loretta Lynn. But as she grew older she began to study and emulate R&B greats like Michael Jackson, Natalie Cole, Teena Marie and Cheryl Lynn. Looking back she recalls that all she ever wanted to do was sing. Already serious about her craft at the tender age of 12, she formed a girl group with her sister and two other young girls. Even then, friends and family knew they were witnessing the start of greatness. This wasn’t a gimmick- Mauree’ was the real deal.

Now an accomplished musician, some of the greatest artists in the industry have called upon the vocalist to provide background support for concerts all over the world. This impressive list includes Michael Henderson, Jean Carne, Academy Award Nominee Ray Parker Jr., George Johnson of the Brothers Johnson, CeCe Peniston, Martha Wash, Alexander O’Neal, Crystal Waters, Billy Paul, Howard Hewitt, The Emotions, Midnight Star and Sir Nose of Parliament and Funkadelic fame. Of course Mauree’s talent isn’t limited to background vocals by any stretch of the imagination. The real treat is watching Mauree’ perform solo. To her credit, she has been the opening act for Comedian Bernie Mac, Roy Ayers, Will Downing, Waymon Tisdale, George Duke, Stanley Clark, Phil Perry, Enchantment and Soul Supergroup One Way. The list of venues and Fests she’s covered includes but isn’t limited to The Jazz Bulls, The Backroom, The Cotton Club, The Green Dolphin and The Vic Theater in Chicago as well as the Juneteenth Festival in Tulsa, OK, and Indianapolis Black Expo.

Being such a powerful performer landed her some prominent theater roles along the way. She had the honor of portraying Ella Fitzgerald in the Chicago Musical ‘Songdiva’ and performed in the off Broadway musical ‘Imagine Tap’ at the Chicago Theater. Mauree’ continues to wow audiences all over the world. Fans say “she has a voice as strong and sweet as her spitit”. When she hits the stage you are observing real musicianship, with sincere passion and heartfelt delivery.

  • When should I arrive for class?

  • Is there an age limit for your regular public classes?

We welcome families and children ages 6 years and above for any of our daytime paint parties. While our evening classes that begin after 5 pm are structured for adults, we do allow guests aged 13 – 17 to participate if they are accompanied by an adult. All guests must be at least 21 years of age to purchase or consume alcohol.

  • What should I wear to paint?

No dress code here...dress casual or dress up! We provide all guests with an apron, but painters have been known to get involved in their work of art. Should any acrylic paint get on your clothes, it can typically be washed out within 60 seconds. If allowed to set longer, the paint may be permanent.

  • I don’t have any artistic talent? Will I be able to complete the painting?

Absolutely! Our paint parties are intended for beginners, but are also fun for more seasoned artists. Our artist will guide you step-by-step through the featured painting. You can follow along as much, or as little, as you’d like. Feel free to choose a different color from our paint cart, add in your own detail or paint another image entirely. We encourage creativity and there are no mistakes! Acrylic paint dries quickly, so making changes or perfecting your painting is easy to do.
