Little Brushes: Summer Camp!

Palette's Summer Art Series is a week long virtual summer camp focusing on different artistic aspects each week.

This session has been developed for young artists ages 6-12. We also have a session that has been developed for teen artists ages 13-18.

Week 3- Art of the Figure (Drawing the Human Body)

Have a young artist ages 6-12 who’s taken a serious interest in creating art? In this virtual, introductory course to visual image making, we will begin our studies this week with an introduction to the Elements and Principles of art. We will explore different ways that art is implemented in our daily lives, gain knowledge of the core components that make up any art piece, and we will put this knowledge to the test by applying what we learn to a project that will be completed throughout the week! A positive attitude and willingness to experiment will be paramount in this class.

THIS IS A WEEK LONG COURSE WITH 1.5 HOURS OF VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION PER DAY (MONDAY-FRIDAY) 6/22/20 THRU 6/26/20.

MON - Intro to Anatomy/Construction & Poses
TUES - Proportions
WED - Hands & Feet
THUR - Faces/ Portraits
FRI - Portraits (cont.)

**You Will Need to Purchase Materials for the Camp**
You will receive a supply list that details everything you will need TO PURCHASE for the entire week. Items include worksheets, a folder, multimedia paper, index cards, pencils, colored pencils, charcoal pencils, an eraser, a pencil sharpener, a ruler, stencils, etc. You may already have many of those items in the house already! You'll receive an email link to join the live interactive class from home or anywhere else!

Please note that this specific week's focus is on drawing, not painting. There will be more crash courses to come, each week being different, some of which will entail painting, as well as other mediums, such as charcoal, pastels, etc..

If you experience technical issues during the live class or are unable to attend, a recording of the class will be available for 4 days following the event.

Frequently Asked Questions

Check out our FAQs to learn more about what to expect from your Pinot's Palette experience or feel free to call the studio to speak to a member of our staff.

  • Can I just walk in and paint?

No – we’re only open for scheduled classes, which you can browse on our event calendar. Reservations are required and can be made online. If you’re looking for a less structured painting experience we recommend coming to one of our Open Studio sessions!

  • What days are classes held?

We hold public classes most evenings and weekend afternoons, but this can be affected by private bookings. Visit our Public Events calendar to see exact dates. Private events can be booked any time!

  • How do I sign up for a class?

Reservations must be made online in advance of classes. Click on “Public Events” at the top of the page to see our calendar and browse through the upcoming painting sessions. When you see one you like you can either click “Book Now” directly from the calendar page, or check out “Class Details” first and register from there. Follow the on-screen directions to complete your order.

  • I don't have any artistic talent, will I be able to do the painting?

Absolutely! All of our classes are beginner-friendly, and our artists will walk you through the painting step by step. Acrylic paint dries quickly and can be layered almost endlessly, so it’s easy to try again if you don’t like something. Almost everyone comes away from our classes pleasantly surprised by what they accomplished!

  • Do I have to follow the instructions?

No! Our artists are here to show you how to recreate the class painting if you so choose, but ultimately your painting is for YOU and we encourage you to do whatever you want. Change the colours, add things in, go full abstract.. we want you to be happy with your art. You will not be graded!
