Police Unity TourOn Sunday, Feb. 25th, we are Painting It Forward for the Police Unity Tour by painting "Vegas Strong."
The Police Unity Tour was organized in May 1997 by Officer Patrick P. Montuore of the Florham Park Police Department. His mission was to bring public awareness about police officers who have died in the line of duty and to honor their sacrifices.
What started with 18 riders on a four day fundraising bicycle ride from Florham Park, NJ to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. has grown into nine chapters consisting of nearly 2,500 members nationwide. These chapters make the trip annually, including members from the Las Vegas Metro, Henderson and North Las Vegas Police Departments.
The primary purpose of the Police Unity Tour is to raise awareness about law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. The secondary purpose is to raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial and Museum.
This past May, the Police Unity Tour announced it was able to donate $2.6 million to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, bringing their total donations to almost $23 million.
You too can show your support of our men and women in blue by Painting it Forward for the Police Unity Tour.
