Celebrating Female Artists: Helen FrankenthalerOn this final day of Women's History Month, we're featuring American artist Helen Frankenthaler.
Helen Frankenthaler, an American Abstract Expressionist painter, played a large role in the creation of “color field” painting.
She poured cans of paint onto the canvas and created amorphous shapes.
Her style is notable in its emphasis on spontaneity, as Helen herself stated, “a really good picture looks as if it’s happened at once.”
Helen broke through the masculine-dominated movement and demanded her voice to be heard.
