Celebrating Female Artists: Berthe MorisotDuring Women’s History Month, we're celebrating an extraordinary female artist each week! This installment, we're focused on Berthe Morisot. Check back on Friday for our final featured artist.
Berthe Morisot, a French impressionist artist, often painted domestic life and portraits where she was able to use friends and family as her models.
Working with oil paints, watercolors, pastels and sketching pencils, her art often reflected the restrictions of culture, class and gender during 19th-century France.
During her time it was said that "no one represents Impressionism with more refined talent or more authority than Morisot."
