Trick-or-Treating Prairie Village ShopsA long-standing tradition for The Shops of Prairie Village, and a “must” for local residents with children is Trick-or-Treating the shops. The first year our studio was in business, we bought some bags of candy and were planning to have a class and give the little trick-or-treaters candy as they came by. Little did we know that hundreds of kids attend this event! We ran out of candy in the first 30 minutes and had to run over to Hen House to replenish our supply. Needless to say, we had no idea the scale of this event, and the following year we were ready!
The first year, I was pregnant with my daughter and future Director of Fun. Every year since then, she has come with me to help hand out candy and join in on the fun. It’s so wonderful seeing so many families out trick-or-treating together, and the kids running from shop to shop in their costumes. It’s always fun to see who the most popular characters of the year – we’ve seen a lot of Elsa’s, Captain America and Paw Patrol in our days. My favorite is seeing which kids have the parents with a sense of humor, and the kids that are either too young to realize what they’re being dressed up as or the kids that are just as funny and go along with it. Last year I saw a miniature Dwight Schrute, toddlers dressed up as old people and one family who turned their wagon into a mousetrap with their toddler dressed as a mouse…insanely cute! So, as a parent, if you’re not wanting to go from house to house, and would rather relax at home and eat…I mean hand out…candy while enjoying some adult beverages, bring the kiddos out to trick-or-treating The Village Shops! It’s fun, your kids get a lot of candy and you can be done by 6pm and home in time to Netflix and chill! We hope to see you there! We’ll be the ones with the candy
