DIY: Gold Tip Stencil ChairWe’ve all seen these chairs. Heck, it’s probably what you sat in eating family dinners grow up or still have at your dining room table. Well, if you’re not ready to part ways, but can see it being used perfectly for an accent chair? Then break out your DIY skills and upcycle that chair, or chairs and gift them to friends and family! Here are our step by step instructions for the perfect DIY accent chair.
Step 1. Use a liquid deglosser and generously wipe down the entire chair’s surface, but be sure to wear gloves! Then you’ll spray the legs and the top of the seat with metallic gold spray paint. For best results, allow the spray paint to dry for 4 to 5 hours before beginning Step 2.
Step 2. Create your stencil. This is the fun part, because I like creating my own designs from adhesive stencil film; however, if you’re not into creating your own stencil, you can buy a pre-made adhesive stencil too. Once you’ve created your design, or unwrapped your stencil, next you’ll peel and stick the stencil to the seat. Press down on all parts of the stencil to make sure there aren’t any bubbles or edges sticking up. Then cover all four leg tips with painter’s tape
Step 3. This is the easiest step, you just pick the color you want for the chair and spray paint a solid coat over the entire chair. For best results, allow the spray paint to dry for 24 hours before removing the painter’s tape and the stencil.
Step 4. Style and enjoy! We found a fun pillow for the chair, and of course, a pretty jewel-toned Pinot’s Palette diptyque painting to style with it.
