The Beauty of Lavender
One of our first events after reopening the studio involved painting a beautiful pot of lavender. The painting -- called "Les Lavendes" -- features a terra cotta pot with a lavender plant and a real twine pot embellishment.
To some, the painting may look challenging. However, if you let your brush do the work you will find it's very simple to achieve the beautiful blooms and perhaps more enjoyable to paint the terra cotta pot! Our instructor walked our guests through the painting, step-by-step beginning with the background and finished by gluing real twine rope to the pot. These ladies did such a great job and had lots of fun singing, painting and enjoying sangria, Meiomi Pinot and yes -- Cornona!
The pretty purple hue in lavender plants is so elegant and the scent is pleasant and subtle. Did you know though that the scent deters mice, flies, mosquitos and other pests from the area in which they are planted? The oil from the plant can be used to soothe aching muscles and joints, reduce anxiety and stress, and induce sleep. Lavender is also part of the mint family! Although we didn't have any live plants in the studio while we painted, our evening was stress-free and enjoyable nonetheless.
We will be offering a variety of events in the coming weeks and months that feature succulents, cacti and other blossoms. So check our calendar often and be sure to sign-up for our newsletter so you can be the first to know what's happening at the studio!
