Heart Healthy Snacks to Bring to a Pinot’s Palette ClassFebruary is Heart Health Awareness month! Making heart-healthy choices in your diet is a key way to minimize your risk of developing heart disease. We want to highlight a few heart healthy snack ideas you can integrate into your daily diet, and bring to a Pinot’s Palette Class with you.
- A small handful of unsalted nuts, such as almonds, hazelnuts or Brazil nuts is a great healthy snack option. Try making your own trail mix with nuts, dark chocolate, and low calorie cereal. YUM!
- Apple slices, spread with peanut butter and a sprinkling of raisins or other dried fruit can be a tasty mid day snack. As you know, an apple a day keeps the doctor away.
- Small bowl of frozen berries served with greek yogurt is great option. Try blending your frozen berries with yogurt, and almond milk to make this a delicious smoothie!
- Multigrain crackers topped with cheddar cheese and sliced green grapes is a nice snack to pair with a glass of red wine. We know what you’re thinking, “How can red wine actually be heart healthy since it’s technically alcohol?” Many doctors agree that something in red wine appears to help your heart. Antioxidants in red wine actually have heart-healthy benefits.
