Hello and welcome to our very first blog post!
My name is Sarah, and I am one half of the mother-daughter team that owns Pinot's Palette Lee's Summit!
I thought I would take this time while our studio is still being built, to introduce myself. I am 28 years-old, I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, I am an actress and have acted in over 40 musicals in the Kansas City area, I'm single with no kids, I change my hair color more than I can count, and I LOVE PINOT'S PALETTE!
In March of 2016 one of my best friends took me to a Pinot's Palette for my birthday. I had never been to a paint & sip before but after this class I was HOOKED. From then on my friends and I would go to Pinot's Palette almost every weekend. It got a little pathetic, to be honest. We would often go TWICE in one day-- going to their early class, eating dinner during the break, and coming back for their evening class later that night. At the end of 2016 I had gathered over EIGHTY of my very own Pinot's Palette masterpieces.
On New Years Eve of 2016 I wrote down in my journal my goals and dreams for 2017. Without thinking, I wrote down "Own my own Pinot's Palette". I was pretty surprised when it dawned on me what I wrote-- I had never even put any thought into owning my own studio...or at least I didn't think I had. Perhaps subconsciously I knew this was the direction my life should be moving in and thus wrote that dream down in my journal. Whatever the initial reasoning, I decided to go ahead and check out what I would need to do to purchase and run my own Pinot's Palette. I had assumed that after the first phone call they would tell me that I was vastly unqualified and my dream would end there. My, how wrong I was!
After many weeks of researching, speaking with owners, and being interviewed by the corporate team, my mom and I were invited down to Houston in February for a "Discovery Day" to meet the founders and the HQ staff. When we went into our "Discovery Day" it was extremely stressful because it was essentially our final interview. If they liked us and felt that we had what it took, they would offer us the chance to purchase our own studio. If they didn't however, our dream would end there.
You probably already guessed it but, yes! In March, we were offered a chance to purchase our very own Pinot's Palette studio! This was one of the happiest days of my life and also one of the most surreal!
Since then, we've been working hard searching for the perfect spot to put our location, finding an architect, getting plans drawn up, finding a contractor, getting a million permits in order, and so much more!
Now, it's November and everything is finally starting to come together. We have a beautiful space in The Summit Fair Shopping Center right next to Macy's and JCPenney, we have an incredible contractor who is building out our studio, and we are working behind the scenes to make sure everything comes together smoothly for a spectacular opening!
Ah, our Grand Opening! We will be opening our studio in January of 2018; exactly one year after I wrote, "owning my own Pinot's Palette" in my dream journal.
This journey has been exciting, stressful, crazy, and incredible so far and we CANNOT wait to see what happens with our studio next.
So thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about me and my story with Pinot's Palette! Make sure you check back here weekly as we'll be putting out blogs every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday!
