Frequently Asked Questions
Where exactly in Pittsburgh are you located?
Our studio is located at 3451 Butler St, which is in Lower Lawrenceville, just outside of the Strip District. We're at the intersection of Butler St and Penn Ave, right across from the Doughboy Memorial Statue.
What are your business hours?
Our normal business hours are Mon-Sat from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. However, there is typically someone here at the studio most evenings and weekends as classes and events require. Our schedule for Public Classes can be found on our Event Calendar. Private Events can be booked any reasonable time on any day of the week based upon availability.
What is your Age Policy?
For Public Classes - 18 and up, 15 and up with a parent. There are no age restrictions for Private Events, though we strongly recommend painters be at least 6 years old. *It is illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to consume alcoholic beverages under any circumstances!
How much does it cost for a Public Class?
The pricing in our public classes is as follows: $35 per painter for a Two Hour Class, $45 per painter for a Three Hour Class. (We occasionally offer specially priced classes that are noted as such on our Calendar of Events. We also offer discount codes through our Social Media sites, so keep an eye out!)
How much does it cost for a Private Event?
The pricing for Private Events is the same as our Public Classes - $35 per painter for a Two Hour Class and $45 per painter for a Three Hour Class. There is a required minimum of ten (10) paid seats Monday through Thursday and twelve (12) paid seats Friday through Sunday. You can book your event in our Private Party Room, "The Fun Factory", which seats up to 24 painters, or our Main Studio, which will accommodate up to 48 painters, based upon availability. All Private Events require a fully refundable deposit of $250.00 which will be refunded the next business day following your event. *More information is available on our Private Events Terms & Conditions page found under the Private Events Tab.
How do I sign up for a class?
It's easy! Make sure you're on our location website for Lawrenceville: www.pinotspalette.com/lawrenceville Then click on "View Full Calendar", this will take you to our Event Calendar where you'll be able to view all of our scheduled classes. Click on any Painting Image for more information and/or to register for that class. Follow the on-screen directions to complete the order. Contact us if you have trouble completing your order and we will walk you through the process.
How many people does your studio hold?
Our Main Studio seats up to forty-eight (48) painters and our Private Room, "The Fun Factory", can accommodate up to twenty-four (24) painters.
There are several in our group; do we all have to sign up at the same time?
You are welcome to do so but it's not necessary. There is a Seating Request Box on every class Sign-Up page where you can put your seating preference. If your group is registering all at once, no problem; just list the names and emails of each painter. If everyone in your group is signing up individually, simply state in the Seating Request Box the name of your group (e.g., Ann's Party) or who you would like to sit with. We'll have everything ready for you when you arrive.
Can I cancel or reschedule my reservation?
Our cancellation policy is as follows: All changes to reservations including, but not limited to, cancellation, refund request, hold order, class substitution/change, etc, must be made by original purchaser. Cancellation requests received more than 48 hours prior to the start of any scheduled class can be refunded. Cancellation requests received less than 48 hours prior to the start of any scheduled class can be put on hold and the purchase amount can be used towards any future paint class at any Pinot's Palette studio. Once the class takes place, no refunds or holds will be applied. *An Administrative Fee of $6.00 Per Seat will be applied to all Re-Schedules and Holds requested by the original purchaser.
Can I cancel or reschedule my Private Event?
A Private Event may be canceled with full deposit refunded, or rescheduled with full deposit applied, with at least 10 business days (M-F) notice before your scheduled party date. Private Events cancelled less than ten (10) business days prior to the scheduled event will be subject to forfeiture of deposit in its entirety. Private Events rescheduled by the organizer less than ten (10) days prior to the scheduled event will be subject to an administrative fee of $30.
What should I bring and what does your studio supply?
Pinot's Palette Lawrenceville is a BYOB establishment and provides everything you need to enjoy your time here other than your choice of drinks and/or snacks. We offer bottled water, water fountains, ice for your drinks and ice filled tubs to keep your drinks chilled, real stemmed and stemless wine glasses, beer glasses, wine and bottle openers, real utensils, napkins and paper plates and paper towels.
What should I wear?
We don't have a dress code to speak of; you can wear whatever you like. We provide all of our guests with aprons to help protect your clothes. That being said, we work with Acrylic Paints which set very quickly so wearing clothes that you don't mind getting a new "design" added to might not be a bad idea.
When should I arrive for an event?
We recommend arriving at our studio 20 minutes before the start of an event, public or private. That gives you time to pour a drink and get settled at your seat. Private Event organizers are welcome to arrive 30 minutes in advance to facilitate any set-up for your event. If you plan on paying when you arrive, please allow for some extra time to take care of that. And always allow for some time to find a parking place.
Can your studio accommodate painters with disabilities?
Yes. Our studio is 100% ADA Compliant. If you have any special seating requirements, feel free to make any requests in the "Seating Preference" box during checkout. We'll do everything we can to accommodate you.
What is the parking situation at your location?
On-Street Parking in this part of town. Butler Street is metered but only enforced Mon-Sat from 8 AM to 6 PM. The city has "Smart Meter" kiosks set up here; you can pay with quarters or a credit card. Not only are they smart, they're also fair - these meters won't let you overpay! Pittsburgh's cool like that! Side Streets and Alleys are free. Remember to allow yourself plenty of time to facilitate parking!
I've never painted before; can I even do something like this?
Most definitely! Our staff of talented and friendly artists will walk you through the process step-by-step and help you to complete your masterpiece by the end of the class, giving you helpful tips and directions along the way.
When do you release your new calendar?
Our Public Class Calendar gets published on or around the 15th of each month for the following month, i.e., the July Calendar is released on June 15. (Scheduled paintings are subject to change at the studio's discretion.)
Do you have a rewards program for return customers?
Yes we do! You can find more information and sign up for Pinot Perks on this site; just click the "Get Free Perks" button near the bottom of the Main Page.
Is there a mailing list I can sign up for?
Of course! Scroll to the bottom of the Main Page and click the "Sign Up Now" button to receive our Newsletter. It gets emailed twice per month: at the beginning of the month with information about upcoming events and discounts and also in the middle of the month following our Calendar Release. It's a convenient way to stay informed of all the Pinot's Palette happenings in Pittsburgh. Don't worry; we won't share or sell your email and we won't Spam you with too many emails.
Can I bring a friend that doesn't want to paint, but just "hang out"?
Our policy is as follows: All paid attendees are not required to paint, however, ALL attendees are required to be paid. We can't sacrifice studio space for non-paying attendees. Sorry!
