Week 1- Beginning Drawing - Line & Structure

Have a teenager ages 13-18+ who’s taken a serious interest in creating? In this virtual, crash course to Visual Image Making, we will begin our studies this week with an Introduction to Line & Structure. We will gain essential knowledge on visual perception and a brief look at the history of drawing and its many applications. We will explore line and structure, learn to compose and balance out our drawings, and exploit creative impulse. A committed attitude and willingness to experiment will be paramount in this course.

LIVE INTERACTIVE VIRTUAL CLASS. Once you sign up, we will mail you the supplies you will need to complete the virtual LIVE course. This class will not be held in the studio.

THIS IS A WEEK LONG CLASS WITH 1.5 HOUR INSTRUCTION PER DAY (MONDAY-FRIDAY, 3 PM - 4:30 PM) 06-15-2020 THRU 06-19-20.

MON - Intro to Sighting (How to "see" objects like an artist)
TUES - Organizational Line Drawing
WED - Basic Composition
THUR - Contour Drawing
FRI - Gesture Drawing

This is a no-supplies camp.
Supplies needed;
18" x 24" Newsprint Pad (50 sheets per kit)
8.5" x 11" Multi Color Construction Paper (20 - 30 sheet per kit)
Masking Tape (0.5" - 1.5" wide)
Safety Scissors (Rounded Tip)
8.5" x 11" Acetate (Clear Plastic Film) (1 sheet)
General's Peel and Sketch Charcoal Pencils
Kneaded Eraser
White Plastic Eraser
Chalk Pastel (Crayola 12 Count Assorted Color Chalk)
2 Pocket Folder
Plastic Fruit (Round fruits like apples, lemons, oranges etc..)
Red Solo Cup
2 Colored Ballpoint pens ( two different colors)

If you wish to purchase a kit complete with everything you need for the week go to our “Shop.” Be sure to purchase the kit for the age group/camp you selected.
The kit will include everything you will need for the entire week.
After you purchase you will be emailed link to join the live interactive class from home!

Please note that this specific week's focus is on drawing, not painting. There will be more art courses to come, each week being different, some of which will entail painting, as well as other mediums, such as charcoal, pastels, etc.

If you experience technical issues during the live class or are unable to attend, a recording of the class will be available for 4 days following the event.

  • What is paint and sip?

    Paint and sip events combine social drinking with painting. Our paint and sip studio offers beer and wine at our bar. Everyone gets a canvas and follows an artist’s instructions to recreate the featured painting on their own canvas. Paint and sip is not a serious art course – it’s about socializing and having fun.

  • I don’t have any artistic talent, will I be able to complete the painting?

    Yes, our artist will guide you step-by-step through the featured painting. This assures you stay on track to completing your masterpiece by the end of class. This is not a serious art course – it’s about socializing and having fun.

  • Do I need a reservation?

    Reservations are not required but highly recommended. Class may at times be sold out. We have assigned seating and if you don't have a reservation but your friends do, you may not be able to sit with them. If you don't have a reservation, please arrive approximately 45 minutes early so we can get you set up and settled in.

  • Is payment required in advance?

    For our public classes we take payment at the time of reservation. We do take walk-ins but we cannot guarantee availability.

  • How do I sign up for a class?

    Signing up is easy either online or by phone. Click the "Event Calendar" link at the top our web page to view our calendar of paintings. Select which painting you would like to paint and click "Register." Follow the on-screen directions to complete the order. Contact us if you have trouble completing your order and we will walk you through the process.
