President's DayPresident’s Day is one of those holidays that sneaks up on me. Sometimes the kids have it off, sometimes they don’t. I always find myself wishing I had made plans to go out of town or planned something fun to do around town. This year, one of my daughters is having a painting party at … you guessed it Pinot’s Palette!
I think camping would be good this year. The weather is nice and there are a lot of great State Parks not too far away. A few years back, we spent Spring Break at Dinosaur Valley Park in Glen Rose.
During that trip, we went to Fossil Rim which is a wildlife zoo. The animals are out in their “natural” habitat and are running around free. You buy food from the store and drive around the park. It takes about 3 hours on a busy day. It’s worth every second!
Here are some tips:
• Go EARLY! Check the website to see when they open and try to be there with in the 1st 30 minutes. The animals get full and tired by the afternoon.
• Check the weather. Some of the animals won’t be out if it’s too cold.
• Have a car with a sunroof. You won’t regret it.
• Make sure you have enough food for Giraffes which is towards the middle and the Zebras which is towards the end.
Check out this video from the winter break. The giraffe is basically in the car. IT WAS AWESOME!
