Time to Change It Up!We've only got a month of spring left, so I guess it's time to start spring cleaning! We've cleaned up the store room, cleared out the paint cart, and done a little rearranging to freshen up the Cordova studio and get ready for summer. What are you doing in your home to make things bright and fresh for the new season? If you need some inspiration, keep reading!
Bring the Outside In
Whether you've got a garden grandma would be proud of, or you've sent every plant you've ever touched to an early grave, bringing plants inside your house is a great way to add some life to the space. Plants purify the air, add color, and can thrive in a variety of light and water conditions, so there's no need to worry if you're a little neglectful with the watering can. Just make sure that you pick plants that are kid- and pet-friendly if you've got little critters running around!
Bring the Inside Out
You see what I did there? Set aside a day to get your outdoor space ready for those summer nights (Grease reference absolutely intended). Hose down the patio furniture, get some outdoor pillows and cushions to add color and flair, and bring the fire pit out from its long winter's nap. Plant some new flowers, set out the tiki torches, then sit back and enjoy outdoor living!
Take Everything Off the Wall...
This one's easy. If your wall decor hasn't changed in so long that your eyes slide right past it, it's time to take everything down. EVERYTHING. Yes, even that one picture where you look really good. Now...
Put Something New Up!
Get some new pictures printed (yes, photos can still exist outside of Facebook) and framed, find some accent pieces at a secondhand store, and get out that painting you made at Pinot's Palette that you love but just didn't have a place for (need some "wow" factor? Come to the studio and check out our wood frames!). Try to arrange your wall with pieces that have different shapes and sizes, but one uniting theme or color. With new walls, it will feel like you have a new room!
Plan a Summer Soirée
Here's how you trick yourself into getting things done... Plan a house party and invite everyone you know. Pick a date and make sure it is set in stone...then start working! With a certain deadline in mind, your home's revamp won't get stuck in the "planning" stage. And when the date of the party arrives, make sure you've got a strong cocktail ready to serve. You've earned it!
Do you know just the painting that will set the tone for your summer spruce up? Join us at Pinot's Palette Cordova for Open Studio, a self-guided paint session where you pick the painting and one of our talented local artists is always on hand to offer ideas and advice!
