Amy Heyse - June First Friday Gallery Walk Featured Artist!
Amy Heyse has been a Pinot's Palette artist for 3 years. She has been with us since Day One!! In addition to being an amazing teacher, she is a master at creating new paintings for Pinot's! She is a Colorado native and has her BFA in Drawing and BA in Art Education from CSU. See her art on display at Pinot's Palette Friday, June 5th from 6-9 pm!
Amy knew she wanted to be an artist from the time she was 2 years old. Her mom still has a drawing of an elephant she did at that age and it was her childhood dream to be an animator for Disney!
Watercolor and gouache are her absolute favorite mediums to work with. Most of her pieces are created in watercolors, but she also loves acrylics and sketching with a good ol’ mechanical pencil. Amy and her husband, Kevin, had a beautiful baby girl last August (and the entire staff at Pinot's thinks she's the sweetest baby ever) so dedicating time to her personal art has been a lesson in time management. When she has the chance, Amy loves creating portraits or murals for families. "Seeing the impact the piece has on them is really touching."
When asked what her favorite thing is about being a Pinot's artist, Amy says "I love being able to introduce people to painting and get an understanding of what it’s like to be an artist. The biggest challenge [of being an artist] is overcoming doubt. There’s always a moment when you work on a piece of art where you wonder if it will actually turn out. You question whether you’re on the right track or if you should start over. Oftentimes, if you just go with it (even if you’ve made a mistake) it always turns out well in the end, even if it’s not quite the way you envisioned it looking."
