Meet our Artists!
Each week we post a profile of one of our professional and talented artists. Check them out on Facebook and right here!
Meet Mandy Gregory – Pinot’s Palette Instructor & Assistant
Mandy was born and raised in Austin, Texas. Her entire family is native to central Texas! She has always made art, winning her first coloring contest in Kindergarten. Soon after, she asked her parents to give up dance lessons in favor of art lessons. She followed her passion and later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art from The University of Texas at Austin, Hook ‘em! She continued her education at Concordia University Texas and graduated with a Master’s of Education degree. She is currently in her 7th year of teaching art in public high school. She enjoys working in a variety of media including ceramics, photography, watercolor and collage. Mandy also loves to cook, bake and of course, eat! She is currently showing and selling her work in the Austin area. You can see Mandy’s work at www.mandygregoryart.com and at her Etsy shop MandyGregoryArt. Her favorite part of working at Pinot’s Palette is the laughter inspired by her guests. “We laugh, dance, sing to 80’s music and paint!” What job could be better?
Meet Dustin Irvin – Pinot’s Palette Instructor & Assistant
Dustin has had the artist bug since first grade when he was asked to write questions to his future self. He asked if he would be an artist, and his future self has answered with a resounding, “yes!” Some kids doodle in class, but Dustin would draw full-out masterpieces. Even though he has many talents, he found himself lost for what to do after high school. He attended the University of Houston and settled on a degree in Applied Design. After realizing that wasn’t his passion, he found his way back to the fine arts. His best works are illustrations, with a focus on mythology and comics. You can check out Dustin’s work at http://www.behance.net/dkirv.
Dustin has had a busy year: He married his lovely wife, Charly, moved to Austin, started working at Pinot’s Palette, and is also pursuing his ACE personal fitness certification! His favorite part about working at Pinot’s is his coworkers. He loves that everyone brings something a little different to the table, but everyone is here to have fun and to make sure our customers have an amazing time.
To quote one of our customers, Dustin is the Hottest. Teacher. Ever. We think Dustin’s wife would agree! :)
Meet Katie Ryan – Pinot’s Palette Instructor & Studio Manager
Katie was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin. Her interest in art started as soon as she could hold crayons and fill in a coloring book. She attained a Bachelor of Fine Art degree and an Art Education degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with an emphasis in drawing and painting. Katie has had multiple well-received shows in Wisconsin featuring her illustrative narrative paintings and is an accomplished watercolor equine portrait painter. In addition to currently teaching art and selling her own work and commissions, Katie was a horse backing riding instructor for over 14 years before moving to Austin, TX. She is super excited to become involved with the local Austin art scene. She finds creative inspiration from spending time outdoors, especially through long backpacking trips through the mountains, working with animals, and traveling to new places. You can see Katie’s work at http://katieryanillustration.com/, Katie Ryan Art and Illustration on Facebook, and shop for prints for sale at KatieRyanArtShop on Etsy.
We love having Katie at our studio and would love for you to meet her in person. Attend a class, call the studio, or just stop by; Katie is usually here!
